Shoe and Boot Care
Everything you need to know
Drying out boots and conditioning for long term use
After getting boots wet they need to be dried naturally away from any heat source
Remove footbeds from boots and turn upside down to drain and leave for a few minutes

Put newspaper or tissue in toe area and leave and remove so all excess water is removed

Leave boots upside down and dry overnight avoiding sunlight, central heating or any artificial heat source

Remove footbeds from boots and turn upside down to drain and leave for a few minutes

Boots can still be damp - Brush Leder Gris into leather working hard into all the seams

Make sure you to condition any soft leather and behind pulls or tongues

Work into all areas and brush hard to get the conditioner into the leather so it soaks in and feeds the cracks and surface

Use a larger brush to buff the finish and drive the Leder Gris into the leather - if you want a shine leave for a couple of days and buff again and then apply Leder Glos

If you use Leder Gris regularly it will extend the life of any modern boot and prevent cracking leather and keep the leather water resistant in the long term
Bootking sell Leder Gris and Leder Bok for Suede and Nubuk and we recommend these conditioners for all modern boot care.
Another well known brand is Nikiwax and please follow the instructions for us. Bootking do NOT recommend Dubbin as it dries leather out in the long term or sprays containing silicone as the sealer stops the leather breathing and also shortens the life of the boot
